Steve Bareis
AMPWDA Master Trainer
Steve Bareis, Sheriff of Perry County (Pinckneyville, Il.). He
has been in law enforcement for twenty years. He has trained hunting
breeds most of his life and transitioned to police K-9's in 2006.
Steve has worked police canines and trained numerous others in his
career all leading to narcotic certification. Sheriff Bareis has
memberships in the North American Police Working Dog Association,and
the American Police Working Dog Association. He is a certified
Narcotic Trainer through K-9 University, an Approved Instructor for
annual re-certification by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and
Standards Board, and ILETSB approved Instructor for Initial (single
purpose: Narcotics/tracking) Narcotic Detection training and
re-certification through Illinois' Mobile training Unit #15,
Carbondale, Illinois.
Bareis is a Captain in the Illinois Army national guard, is married,
and has one daughter, step daughter, two step sons, and two grand
kids.
