Bill Hewitt
AMPWDA Master Trainer
Bill's love for hounds started at an early age, coon hunting in
the hills of Pennsylvania. He bred, raised, and trained coonhounds
for years. From there Bill went on to develop an interest in using
K9s to save lives and he started breeding and training Bloodhounds
for that purpose. He has been a regular at AMPWDA seminars for many
years and has trained extensively with Tony Keith, Dan Gray and Dave
Wheeler. In 2017 he started hosting the annual AMPWDA West Virginia
State Mantrailing Workshop which has become one of our most popular
events. He has trained and certified numerous dogs, but his pride
and joy was always his Bloodhound Xena. Five years ago he was named
an AMPWDA trainer and has worked at numerous seminars and workshops.
Bill also founded and was the lead tracker for the Jefferson County
K-9 Search team in West Virginia. He also was an active member of
CUE (Community United Effort) based in Wilmington, NC.
Besides training dogs and working his farm, Bill's other interests
include breeding and racing horses in Charles Town, West Virginia. .
