Michael Swindle
AMPWDA Master Trainer
Michael Swindle has been active in the K9 handling/training industry for 24 years and has trained and handled K9’s in multiple disciplines. He has instructed for AMPWDA since 2012 and formerly oversaw the HRD section. He retired from the Illinois State Police where he served in patrol and later in multiple specialty areas in the division of criminal investigation. Through the ISP, he was a use of force instructor in the officer survival section, specifically in active shooter response and the MILO use of force simulator. He currently owns a K9 training business and serves as the president of Gateway Search Dogs, Inc., a NFP organization that provides resources to law enforcement/emergency response agencies in SAR and evidence recovery. He handles Jette, a K9 trained and certified in firearms detection.
